Need help monetizing a site; proceeds go to the coolest non-profit music venue in the universe!
Hello all!
* The Henry Miller Library is a non-profit art center and the coolest music venue in the world. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arcade Fire, Fleet Foxes, and other amazing bands have played intimate shows here, for 300 people. (The lucky volunteer(s) may just find themselves with a couple free tickets to a show, if possible.)
* Three million visitors come to Big Sur a year. Most of them camp. The GoogleAd word competition for the keywords "big sur camping" is Low, with 18,000 monthly searches.
* There is no single one-stop place for visitors to see all the campgrounds nearby, much less one where they can get user-generated feedback (a la TripAdvisor)
These factors are exacerbated by point 4: The Henry Miller Library, a non-profit, needs money. (!)
So, we purchased campbigsur.com with the hope of making it the "TripAdvisor" of big Sur camping, ultimately generating ad revenue for the Library.
I experimented with the BuddyPress theme in Wordpress, with the hope of giving it a social media twist - after all, if we can get visitors to post their camping recommendations and experiences, that'd be ideal - but it looks ugly and I am a Wordpress neophyte.
Desired Outcome:
Ultimately, we can provide the base content and subsequent blogs; we need help in terms of design and in setting up a platform for ongoing monetization (that we can subsequently manage.) The desired outcome, therefore, is a steady stream of revenue generated from ads (minimum $50 a month.)
Thank you so much for you consideration!
